Practice Guidelines
Telephones
Our telephone switchboard opens at 8.00 am every morning, one half hour prior to the door opening. We endeavour to answer the telephone as soon as possible. However, at busy times during the day you may be directed to our queuing system where we can answer the calls in queuing order.Doctors and Nurses have requested not to be disrupted by telephone calls during their consultations. However, at the end of each morning Surgery we have allocated a number of five minute pre-bookable telephone consultation slots with each Doctor.
At all times there is an Emergency Doctor who will take calls concerning medical emergencies but is unable to deal with administration or other matters.
Practice Staff
We afford all our patients courtesy and respect at all times and appropriate levels of medical care delivered by suitably qualified people. We ensure that our Reception is always staffed during opening hours. Our staff are all trained to protect your confidentiality.
Appointment information
We offer appointments on the day. We also offer the booking of routine appointments up to 14 days in advance for Doctors and up to 28 days for Nurses.Doctor and Nurse appointments are spaced at ten minute intervals. These times are a guide and therefore, some appointments can exceed this time limit.
We also operate a telephone triage service where a Doctor can call you if our appointments are full and you need medical advice.
We ask that patients who book an appointment please attend. If for any reason you are unable to keep your appointment then we would appreciate prior notification so that we can offer that vacant space to another patient. We do monitor the appointments and will advise patients if they fail to attend without notification.
Repeat prescriptions
You can -
• Post your repeat prescription to us
• Drop in at Reception
• Via email on this website
The following local dispensing chemists manage a regular collection service direct to the Surgery so that repeat prescriptions may be dispensed and collected from the pharmacy without the need for you to return here:-
We do not take requests for repeat prescriptions over the telephone because of the risk of mistakes. Please allow 48 hour for your prescription to be made available. The Doctors will periodically ask you to attend the Surgery for a review before prescribing your medication.
